CRN+ announces the appointment of Jason Shepherd

Today, the Caribbean Network of People Living with HIV (CRN+) announces the appointment of Jason Shepherd, who joins the organization as the Senior Programme Officer on 1 June 2017.

For the past 14 years, Mr. Shepherd has worked in HIV, peer education and gender.  Prior to coming to CRN+, he was the Manager of the Gender Affairs Bureau, with Ministry of Social Protection.

Over the years, Jason has also worked extensively in HIV testing and counselling, working with key population, LGBT, peer education and HIV programme Coordination and support with organisations such as UNFPA, GHARP 1 & 11, JSI/APC Guyana and CRN+.

Jason was also the President of the Family Planning Association of Guyana (FPAG) and then Vice-President of Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA)

Welcoming the appointment, Winfield Tannis-Abbott, secretary of the board, said: “Jason brings with him years of experience in the HIV response and a commitment to the needs of the marginalised communities and the networks which are at the heart of CRN+ work.  The board and the donor partners look forward to working with him to strengthen and rebuild where necessary, the capacity of not only CRN+ but the affiliate networks, mobilise resources and to execute our strategy at a time of considerable change in the world and in our sector. He has the skills and experience to build strong bonds across the Caribbean and the wider HIV sector so that we can maximise the impact of our vital work for people that are vulnerable to or affected by HIV and AIDS.”

Mr. Shepherd said: “I am excited about the new role and I look forward to working alongside the CRN+ and Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) board members, affiliate networks, National AIDS Programmes, donors/partners and civil society advocates, to create a new model of working for CRN+.

Mr. Shepherd will be stationed in Guyana at the PANCAP Coordinating Unit, where the Global Fund Round 9 Grant is being executed. CRN+ is a sub-sub recipient of that grant.

The Caribbean Regional Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (CRN+) is the regional umbrella organisation that advocates for, and on behalf of Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) and is the only organisation of its kind in the region.  It is comprised of 27 national affiliates representing the Dutch, English, French and Spanish countries in the Caribbean.
